Ride quality and handling dynamics benefit from an available semi-active dynamic suspension system paired with 9.6 inches of ground clearance and 32-inch tires, providing legitimate off-road capability alongside practical utility that includes a front trunk and generous rear cargo volume.

Thermal management encompasses the structural battery pack and electric drive units alongside cabin climate control, though managing cabin heat load requires active HVAC effort due to the unshaded full panoramic glass roof. Acoustic isolation is reinforced by a rigid structural shell, while interior interaction centers entirely on a 15.6-inch high-resolution touchscreen. Firmware cadence maintains continuous feature rollouts and over-the-air platform management, though Rivian’s proprietary software architecture intentionally omits Apple CarPlay and traditional FM radio support.

In daily operation, the R2 provides a compliant ride and athletic acceleration, but independent evaluations note that real-world highway driving range falls noticeably short of EPA estimates.
