How enable Hyper-V in Windows 8.1 & Windows 10

If you are looking to set up a virtual machine on Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 an easy way of getting that done is by using Hyper-V.  There are other tools out there that are available for this purpose but why not use what is already built into Windows?

OK, so the process of getting Hyper-V going on your computer is very simple… below you will find the steps on enabling Hyper-V.

  1. Right-click on the Start button and select Programs and Features.
  2. Click Turn Windows Features on or off.
  3. In the list put a check in Hyper-V, I would double-check to make sure that when you did this that Hyper-V Management Tools and Hyper-V Platform both got the check.
  4. Press OK and when it finishes it will most likely ask you to reboot.
  5. Once the machine reboots you should be good to go, you will have an icon for Hyper-V Manager in your Start screen.
