If you are looking to set up a virtual machine on Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 an easy way of getting that done is by using Hyper-V. There are other tools out there that are available for this purpose but why not use what is already built into Windows?
OK, so the process of getting Hyper-V going on your computer is very simple… below you will find the steps on enabling Hyper-V.
- Right-click on the Start button and select Programs and Features.
- Click Turn Windows Features on or off.
- In the list put a check in Hyper-V, I would double-check to make sure that when you did this that Hyper-V Management Tools and Hyper-V Platform both got the check.
- Press OK and when it finishes it will most likely ask you to reboot.
- Once the machine reboots you should be good to go, you will have an icon for Hyper-V Manager in your Start screen.
